Vetro Attest vs. Holistic AI
*Engineering comparison, not legal advice. Holistic AI's offering changes quickly; check their site for the current state.*
Holistic AI assesses AI systems: is the model biased, robust, explainable, and where does it sit in your risk inventory. Vetro Attest does not assess the model; it proves what the system did at runtime.
What Holistic AI does well
- AI inventory and discovery across the organisation;
- Technical risk assessments: bias, robustness, privacy and explainability testing;
- Regulatory mapping for the EU AI Act and other AI rules, with tracking of obligations;
- Audit services alongside the platform.
For organisations that need model-level risk audits and a governance view, it is a strong choice.
What a risk audit does not give you
- A point-in-time assessment, not a runtime record. An audit says how a model behaved on a test set. Art. 12 asks that logs make each operation of a high-risk system traceable over its lifetime.
- No evidence per run. When a specific decision is disputed, you need the record of that run: inputs, tool calls, policy decisions, human interventions.
- The operator holds the logs. Unless someone independent signs them, logs are a claim by the party with an interest in the outcome.
- Enterprise pricing. Quote-based platform and audit engagements, sized for a programme.
None of this is a flaw in Holistic AI; audits and logs answer different questions.
What Vetro Attest adds
Paste an OTLP/JSON trace (OpenTelemetry GenAI conventions) or a signed Vetro ledger; it is rebuilt into a hash-chained ledger and checked for free. For 29 USD, one-off:
- an EU AI Act report mapping the trace onto Art. 12, 14, 19 and 26;
- an ed25519 countersignature over digest, event count and timestamp, verifiable by anyone against our published key.
No logs because you deploy third-party AI? The document pack (99 USD) drafts a FRIA (Art. 27), an Annex IV draft, an AI literacy plan (Art. 4) and Art. 50 notices from one form, countersigned. A draft to review, not legal advice.
When to choose which
- Choose Holistic AI when you need model-level bias and robustness audits or an AI risk inventory.
- Choose Vetro Attest when you need to prove what a deployed system did, run by run, self-serve.
- Use both: the audit covers the model before deployment; signed traces cover its operation after.
