Vetro Attest vs. Saidot
*Engineering comparison, not legal advice. Saidot's product changes quickly; check their site for the current state.*
Saidot helps organisations document and govern their AI systems against the EU AI Act: what each system is, which risks and obligations apply, who is responsible. Vetro Attest proves what a system actually did when it ran.
What Saidot does well
- AI system registry with structured documentation per system;
- Risk and obligation libraries mapped to the EU AI Act and standards, with guidance on what applies;
- Governance workflows for owners, reviewers and approvals;
- Transparency: documentation that can be shared with stakeholders.
For a European organisation building its AI governance and documentation practice, it is a strong choice.
What a registry does not give you
- Documentation describes the system, logs record it. Art. 12 asks that a high-risk system's logs make its operation traceable; a registry entry says what should happen, not what did.
- The record is the operator's. Documentation maintained by you is a statement, not independent proof.
- No per-run signature. Nothing pins an agent's tool calls and human interventions to a digest and a moment that a third party can verify.
- Programme pricing. Plans are sized for organisation-wide governance.
None of this is a flaw in Saidot; it is a different layer.
What Vetro Attest adds
Paste an OTLP/JSON trace (OpenTelemetry GenAI conventions) or a signed Vetro ledger; it is rebuilt into a hash-chained ledger and checked for free. For 49 USD, one-off:
- an EU AI Act report mapping the trace onto Art. 12, 14, 19 and 26;
- an ed25519 countersignature over digest, event count and timestamp, verifiable by anyone against our published key.
No logs because you deploy third-party AI? The document pack (99 USD) drafts a FRIA (Art. 27), an Annex IV draft, an AI literacy plan (Art. 4) and Art. 50 notices from one form, countersigned. A draft to review, not legal advice.
When to choose which
- Choose Saidot for an organisation-wide AI registry and governance documentation.
- Choose Vetro Attest when you need runtime evidence for a specific system, self-serve, in minutes.
- Use both: the registry documents what the system must log; the countersigned trace shows it did.
Try it
