Which EU AI Act GPAI obligations apply to you, and when?
Chapter V of the AI Act regulates general-purpose AI models: every provider has baseline duties (Art. 53), models with systemic risk carry more (Art. 55), and teams that only build on someone else's model mostly have system-level duties instead. Four questions, the list of obligations with dates. Runs entirely in your browser.
Building on a GPAI model is not the end of your duties
If you deploy the model in your own product, you still owe AI literacy (Art. 4), transparency notices (Art. 50) and, for high-risk uses, a FRIA and Annex IV documentation. The compliance pack drafts all four from one questionnaire and signs them with ed25519. No ledger or code needed.

Whoever builds on a GPAI model answers for the system: transparency (Art. 50), logs and oversight if it is high-risk (Art. 12, 26). Vetro Attest countersigns your Vetro ledger or OpenTelemetry GenAI trace with ed25519 and produces an EU AI Act evidence report. 29 USD, one-off.

GPAI obligations apply since 2 August 2025; the Commission can fine providers from 2 August 2026 (Art. 101); models placed on the market earlier must comply by 2 August 2027 (Art. 111(3)). Adhering to the GPAI Code of Practice is a recognised way to demonstrate compliance (Art. 56).
